Demands to improve working environments in both production and pre-production, control, maintenance, supervision and testing areas are continually growing due to increasingly strict regulations and to technological and management development of companies. Production Environments

In pharmaceutical, food and other industries with special hygiene requirements, there are a multitude of environments that, even outside the controlled areas commonly called “clean rooms”, require superior and controlled air quality. Receiving, weighing, pre-mixing, control and process supervising areas are some of them. Laboratories

– Air conditioning systems equipping laboratories, as a rule, often have the side effect of decreasing the quality of indoor air due to reduced outdoor intake rates and filtering capacity*. Although most of the alternatives available on the market for indoor air purification are intended the to laboratories, few or perhaps none, in fact, meet the essential control, monitoring and management requirements needed in this type of application (see INTELIARTM). Health Care Areas

Clinics, Hospitals, Community Health facilities, small Clinical Analysis Laboratories and related environments operate in buildings with poor ventilation conditions, putting occupants’ health at risk. These buildings in general do not support the installation of centralized ventilation systems without complex and expensive works. At the same time, maintenance and control of air quality is essential. Infectious biological agents are a real risk of contamination in such environments. Educational Institutions

A number of studies show that air quality directly affects the performance and health of students and staff in school environments (UNESCO_A-quality-of-indoor-air-in-schools-ea-performance-of-students.pdf (purefeel.com. br). Some symptoms such as irritability, stress, lack of concentration, drowsiness, rhinitis, sinusitis can be consequences of a closed, poorly ventilated environment with a high concentration of CO2. Air conditioning, specially the so called “split” type although brings thermal comfort to the environments, do not contribute to the solution of the Indoor Air Quality problem. Resolution No. 9, January 2003 from ANVISA*, as well as other international bodies, recommends a maximum of 1,000 parts per million (ppm) of CO2 for indoor environments, which is often exceeded without the proper ventilation leading a large number of schools to have higher carbon dioxide levels, which is an indicator of ventilation efficiency, above 3,000 ppm. An additional consequence of bad ventilation is the high concentration of other indoor air contaminants such as airborne dust (PM2.5 and PM10) volatile organic compounds – VOCs, including formaldehyde. The increased concentration of airborne dust is directly related to contamination by microorganisms such as bacteria and viruses, and VOCs can be found in many construction and maintenance products used in classrooms, including carpets, vinyl, paints, sealants, plastics , wood products, furniture, electronics, cleaning agents and others, with serious consequences for the health of the occupants. Commercial and Public Buildings

The increasingly frequent spread of epidemics and pandemics has greatly restricted the use of spaces for the intense circulation of people in private and public buildings. Part of the environments in these buildings, which quite often do not have suitable ventilation system, has a high density of occupation with the consequent risks of contamination.
